Federal Minimum Wage To Increase On July 24, 2009

The Federal minimum wage will increase from $6.55 per hour to $7.25 per hour, effective July 24, 2009. Generally, if there is a difference between a State and Federal minimum wage, the employer must pay the higher of the two hourly rates. Employers may wish to consider contacting their respective State Departments of Labor to determine their minimum wage obligations on and after July 24, 2009.
